Artist Spotlight on Ramchandra Pokale
Ramchandra Pokale creates beautiful enthralling images of children happily innocently lost in their own world. Almost all his paintings have an underlying theme that makes one reminisce one’s own childhood.
Rachandra Pokale was that curious creative boy who started drawing on almost everything that he could lay his hands on from the age of 4 or 5. Coming from a very small and a remote image, he wasn’t aware that arts is a field to itself and that it can be studied, practsied and improved upon. After graduating from commerce, he got to know that there are fine arts programs everywhere in the country. Upon learning that, he started his education in the field of arts from Nagpur and eventually graduated and post-graduated in the field of Arts from Amravati and Nagpur in Maharashtra. His interest in Arts was always fueled (inspired) by the surroundings, society, people, customs and rituals, and nature.
When he was in his final year in his Bachelor’s he has gotten an opportunity to exhibit in the Monsoon Show of Jehangir. He received great response from that show which prompted him to go ahead and take to art full-time.
Right from childhood till date, nature is his biggest inspiration. When he begins a painting, he is open to all kinds of ideas and thoughts. Slowly his minds’ perceptions become strong and then get translated into extremely strong impressions which start flowing out of his hands and brush on to the blank canvas, eventually giving life to his imaginations.
As an artist, his primary sources of imagination are social, religious, traditional and personal perceptions. In his paintings, there are many elements that are his: his texture of paintings, his ideas, his thoughts, his simplicity and serenity with which he approaches the subjects. And for this reason, he finds his happinesss and joy in painting.
He is always fascinated by the harmonical presentation of vivid colors in the nature. Hence, he always strives to use some of its colors in his own drawings/ paintings.
For Ramchandra Pokale, art and his life are synonymous. He feels that he will live on forever through his paintings. And he cannot visualize art as a separate entity from his life. He eventually hopes to create a masterpiece for the world.
